Year 2: Lego Education Centre excursion

Year 2: Lego Education Centre excursion

05/08/2019

In Term 3, students in Grade 2 will be learning about the concept of change during our Inquiry unit,

‘I Wonder Why.’ In this unit, we will be looking at how machines and toys work. To help children understand this concept we have organised a full day excursion to the Lego Education Center at Docklands. During the day students will be participating in two 1-hour workshops. In these workshops, students will be asked to use STEM skills to explore basic mechanical principles and to design and create items to help within their community.

When: Monday 5th August
Where: Lego Education Centre

Shop 5

439 Docklands Drive, Docklands

Mode of Transport: Bus
Cost:  Nil (on this occasion the cost is covered by the excursion levy)

Due to the unpredictability of Melbourne’s Weather, it is recommended your child brings a raincoat or rain poncho.

Lunch:  Students are required to bring a packed lunch, water bottle and healthy snack in a plastic bag.

We would very much appreciate the assistance of some parents on the day so that we can keep our groups to a workable size. If you would like to help and have a valid “Working with Children Check” certification, which has been registered in CareMonkey, and you have been through the St Peter’s Volunteer Interview process, please indicate accordingly below and your child’s teacher will contact you. Due to the responsibility involved in supervising a group of children, you will not be able to bring along pre-schoolers.

Also note that all parents assisting with this excursion will be required to attend a compulsory briefing session on Wednesday 31st July at 8.25am in the 2C Classroom.

CONSENT TO ATTEND THIS EXCURSION MUST BE COMPLETED BY MONDAY 29TH JULY
