THE CEREMONY
The Confirmation will be held in the St Peter Apostle Catholic Church, Guinane Avenue, Hoppers Crossing on Friday 19th November at 7.00pm and Thursday 25th November at 7.00pm. This will be a Confirmation service, not a full mass.
CELEBRANT
The students will be confirmed by Fr Vincent John.
ARRIVAL TIME
Candidates and sponsors need to arrive at school by 6.00pm, if they wish to have an individual photo taken.
A group photo will be taken at 6.30pm.
Candidates and sponsors will meet in the Year 6 rooms when they arrive at school. Parents are asked to drop their child off and then return to the car until the church is open at approximately 6.30pm.
Each adult will be asked to check in to the Church via QR Code and show attached vaccination certificate.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Candidates and sponsors may have photographs taken before mass with a professional photographer. Individual photos will be taken first, followed by a group photo. All students need to be in the group photo. This will be taken at 6.30pm.
Photos will be ordered on line only – more information to follow.
Photography or video recording is not permitted during the ceremony.
Fr Vincent will be happy to stay for photos after the service.
DRESS CODE
It is essential that candidates and sponsors dress in an appropriate way and their clothing needs to reflect the sacredness of this important religious sacrament. We ask for no denim and no runners please.
SPONSOR
Candidates require one confirmed, Catholic sponsor over the age of 16. If possible a Godparent is appropriate. The sponsor sits next to the candidate. At the time of Confirming, the sponsor hands the Confirmation card to the priest and then stands behind the kneeling candidate. If the sponsor is unable to attend a parent may step in as a proxy sponsor.
SEATING
Due to the numbers in the church still being at a reduced capacity we are asking that each student bring ONLY 3 people with them – sponsor and 2 other people.
PRESENTATION OF CERTIFICATES
Students will receive their certificates at the Thanksgiving Mass at School.
