Your child will participate in 5 lessons over this period. Each lesson will be 30 minutes and they travel by bus with their teachers.
A timetable will be given in the coming weeks.
Please complete the parent assessment letter and return it to your child’s classroom teacher by Friday 9th August.
** If your child is unable to participate due to extended holidays, health reasons etc, your must let the teacher know in writing by Friday 9th August, as groups need to be organised according to class sizes.

Uniform: | During the Swimming Program, the children are expected to wear their Sports Uniform every day. It is a good idea to wear bathers underneath the Sports Uniform and to bring a labelled bag (a supermarket bag is fine!) for towel, goggles, underwear etc. It is important for parents to label every item of their child’s clothing as this may save the frustration of searching the Lost Property Box later on. Children with long hair are advised to have it tied off the face and to wear a swimming cap if possible. |
GENERAL INFORMATION
It is each child’s responsibility to come prepared for swimming lessons each day. Any children who forget their swimming bag will not be permitted to swim that day. Please note that, in the past, there has been a great deal of inconvenience in the office caused by children wishing to contact their parents because they have forgotten their swimming gear. Consequently we are unable to continue to do so, therefore to avoid disappointment, please encourage your child to be organised. If your child is unable to swim on any given day during the program, he/she will still travel to the pool with the class to be supervised by the class teacher.
SWIM LEVELS
A ‘Parent Assessment letter’ will be going home with your child, to assist the swim school with their initial planning of the program and to give them a general indication of swim levels. This is a guide only as they will be assessing students in their first lesson. This form must be returned to the school by FRIDAY 9th AUGUST.
ENSURING YOUR CHILD IS SWIM READY
All students are expected to independently undress and dress themselves for the swimming program. Please ensure that your child has had practise:
- removing their clothing independently
- drying themself with a towel
- dressing themself (including underwear)
- placing their own items in a swimming bag
Parents are no longer allowed to assist students in communal change rooms. It is therefore of great importance that they are able to do these things independently.
We would very much appreciate the assistance of some parents on the day so that we can keep our groups to a workable size. If you would like to help and have a valid “Working with Children Check” certification, which has been registered in CareMonkey, and you have been through the St Peter’s Volunteer Interview process, please indicate accordingly below and your child’s teacher will contact you. Due to the responsibility involved in supervising a group of children, you will not be able to bring along pre-schoolers.
